Standard Sheepadoodle in Texas
Texas has a hot, humid climate across much of the state. A big Standard carries a lot of coat and body mass, so heat management is the main concern: a short clip, shade, water and early-morning exercise.
Coat and grooming in Texas
Keep the coat clipped shorter through the long warm season. Dense curls trap heat and damp, so dry the coat fully after swimming or rain to avoid hot spots and matting. Wavy to curly and dense. Needs brushing several times a week and a professional groom every 6 to 8 weeks. Our Sheepadoodle grooming guide covers tools and routines.
Exercise and daily life
Standard Sheepadoodles need about 60 to 90 minutes of activity a day. Walk early morning or after sunset, and keep midday play indoors or in shade with fresh water close by.
Seasonal risks to plan for
Heat stress, and a longer flea and tick season. Ask your Texas veterinarian about parasite prevention timed to your local season.
Vets, groomers and trainers near Houston, San Antonio and Dallas
Owners in and around Houston, San Antonio and Dallas should look for groomers who work on curly doodle coats every week, and for trainers who use reward-based methods. Ask for references and meet them before booking. Search locally, since we do not recommend or rate individual businesses.
