Mini Sheepadoodle in Maine

Maine has a cold-winter climate across much of the state. A Mini feels the cold more than a Standard in deep snow, so expect a coat or boots on the worst days and shorter outings.

Coat and grooming in Maine

The dense, woolly coat handles cold well when it is kept brushed to the skin. Snow and ice ball up in long leg hair, so trim between the pads and keep the legs shorter in winter. Wavy to curly. Brush several times a week and expect a professional groom every 6 to 8 weeks. Our Sheepadoodle grooming guide covers tools and routines.

Exercise and daily life

Mini Sheepadoodles need about 45 to 60 minutes of activity a day. Most Sheepadoodles enjoy snow play. Rinse paws after walks on salted roads, and shorten outings in extreme wind chill.

Seasonal risks to plan for

Ice balls in leg hair and road-salt irritation on paws. Ask your Maine veterinarian about parasite prevention timed to your local season.
